AlumiAutomatic Dual Reel Take-Up System
Automatic dual-reel take-up systems work as the rod collection section in aluminum and aluminum alloy continuous casting and rolling lines. They coil Ø9.5–12 mm aluminum and aluminum alloy rods tightly and continuously into finished rod coils. During operation, the diverter guides the rod either to the scrap rod traction unit or into the guide trough, which connects with the main take-up machine. After coiling, each finished coil is secured with steel straps and released from the reel for handling. Dual-reel take-up systems have several main components including an aluminum rod cooling device, flying shear, diverter, scrap rod traction unit, scrap rod collection frame, guide trough, dual-reel take-up machine, pneumatic system, electrical system, and control unit.

- Automatic dual-reel take-up systems use forced cooling to reduce the temperature difference between the inner and outer layers of each rod coil, helping protect the quality of finished pure aluminum and aluminum alloy rods.
- The flying shear in the take-up system cuts the rod during reel changeover, making coil transfer smoother and easier to manage.
- If a production fault occurs or rod quality becomes unstable during continuous casting and rolling, the flying shear can cut defective rod into short sections.
- The diverter and scrap rod traction unit guide the scrap sections into the collection frame, so defective rod can be separated and handled more easily.
